Approximately 45 W&M students spent Martin Luther King Day in Petersburg, Virginia participating in community service projects created in partnership with the non-profits Habitat for Humanity, ElderHomes, and Pathways. SPICE (Students' Petersburg Initiative for Community Engagement) and the Office of Community Engagement and Scholarship's Branch Out program was created last year to provide service opportunities with an integral learning component.
